Where does the road lead to the top Four.
LMS, 09.21.11. (Saturday Game)
Week 3 unraveled the rankings from many that
made predictions from the 7on7 times going
into the preseason football. All that is just
another tool for work in progress. Now, rankings
can be made more reasonable.
Del Rio Rams vs Laredo Alexander Bulldogs,
Game of the Week.
The Rams football team knows what the
challenge is this week when it travels to Laredo
-- find a way to contain Bulldogs QB Bryan
Swain who is a threat not only in the passing
but in the running game. And, as for the Rams
well one can look at their stats. But, that is all
we have are stats. They live in an area of
mystique where very little is visually known of
their playing. However, it is exposure time.
One fact we know is that they are a power
running team from past games in this district.
And are a very strong competitor for 2011 top
four positions.
Laredo Nixon vs Laredo LBJ
LMS, 09.21.11. (Thursday Game)
Well, the Nixon Mustangs lost a horse shoe,
mustangs shoe or whatever last week. That
game was just an attention getter. At times,
It builds more character in team for what lays
ahead. However, they still remain high on the
list. The Mustangs has applied the passing to
their menu. With ever game they play their
QB and receivers are punching more and
more holes into defenses. LBJ Wolves will
find their hands full defending against the
pass. The Mustangs came in this year with
height in their receivers.
LBJ Wolves are no push over. With the
perfections of their running backs with fast
lateral movement and forward momentum
the Mustangs will also have a difficult time.
In this case the running game. The Wolves
will pound that ball all night until they break
through.

Eagle Pass Eagles vs Laredo United 'Horns
LMS, 09.21.11. (Friday Game)
Eagles have me in a confusion state, at this
time. Normally, from last year to previous
years the Eagles would be undefeated
coming into this weeks game. Now, they find
themselves struggling for one of the top four
positions. Coming into United Longhorns
territory it makes it harder to have an upper
hand in this weeks game. However, HFC
Tom Gonzalez and company will find a way to
be one of the leaders.
United has been explosive in their past
district games of this year. Their offense and
defense has played as expected. However,
will this be a runaway game for the
Longhorns -- I don't think so. The Longhorns
will have their mission cut out all night long
to the last minute of the game. This game
will be one of character.
Laredo Cigarroa Toros vs E P CCW Mavs
LMS, 09.21.11. (Friday Game)
Is this the "Battle of the Bulls"? At moment I
do not want to cross paths with the Toros.
Don't fence them in because they will kick
the beans out of you. These guys are not
used to being in the position they are in right
now. They are still looking for that "W". This
is going to be a hard hitting game.
The Mavs on the other hand are in a high
state of mind. They came home (Eagle Pass)
with their first "W". I am sure they woke up
the whole city of Eagle Pass with a grito.
And, rightly so. They won a big upset over
Nixon last week. Now, let me see, just won
a big upset game, #28 RB Luvin DeLeon and
QB #11 Chris Cantu -- watch out. Well, you
figure it out.
Good Luck to both teams. Whom ever wins
will deserve it in this "Battle of the Bulls".
Laredo's Martin Tigers vs United So. Panthers
LMS, 09.21.11. (Saturday Morning Game)
Whom is mightier -- the Tiger or the Panther?
The Tigers were exposed earlier to the
Longhorns passing game in their first district
game. Respectfully, the Panthers and
Longhorns use the spread.
Therefore, the Tigers come into this game
against the Panthers with a heads up with
their defense playing against the spread
offense, generally speaking. Both defenses
are able to blitz and rush the QB out the
pocket fairly well.
However, the Panthers have weapons such
as the arm of QB Robert Camarillo and his go
to receivers Carlos Verdarte and Orlando
Contreras. And, the Tigers at the moment are
riding on the running game led by Rudy
Castillo. If Tiger QB Alberto Estrada can step
up to the plate, he will be able to put an
added mix in the Tiger offense. This will be a
close scoring game.
This must be a win situation for the Tigers to
be able to stay on top with this additional win.
The Panthers must avoid at all cost a loss at
this early of the stage.

A True Test of Character. 09.24.11. LMS
Two of the three Elites of district 29-5A play this
weekend in Laredo, Rams (21) and Bulldogs
(28). Did someone forget to tell these two teams
it was not district playoff time. They played as
champions.
Everyone that went had a good night of football
entertainment.
Both Coaches, Stephen Hoffman (Rams) and
Joel Lopez (Bulldogs) showed their leadership
in leading their teams to the end zone. When
players from teams take a physical beating as
both teams and continue to push -- it says a lot
about players, coaches, team and especially the
"general" conducting the battlefield. That is why
they are the elite. This game was a test for both
team, especially for the Bulldogs who had been
garnering explosive scores in the past.
At the end the Bulldogs prevail over the Rams
with their mighty defense and a strong hold on
the last two minutes of the game.
Hey, lets not take anything away from the Rams.
With a score as close as it was in this game it
showed that the Rams stayed in the game. It
was not an easy win for the Bulldogs.
Congrats to both teams. At this moment, until
they play their last game the Bulldogs and the
winner of next week game -- United vs Del Rio
will be the drivers seat of district 29-5A.
