Week 3 Saturday Game
Eagle Pass CC Winn Mavericks
Laredo Nixon Mustangs
LMS,Posted: 09.14.11

Don't look now but one of the district powerhouse
programs is back on track from some years ago
and appears to be a strong contender for one of
the top four positions for a playoff run.  I know it is
too early to say.  But what the hell I don't know
anything about football.  Don't tell that to HFC
Tommy Ramirez and company that  it is not
possible.

Game of the Week
Let's throw out all the statistics and follow me on
this upcoming game.

Top ranked and undefeated in preseason and
district are the Laredo Alexander Bulldogs.  The
Bulldogs will be hosted by the Eagle Pass
Eagles, on Friday September 16, in Eagle Pass.
It is known that the Bulldogs will be one of the
top four teams in district along with the Eagles.
And, at this early stage the Bulldogs are favored
to take district.

Week 3 - Friday Game
Laredo United So.Panthers
Laredo United Longhorns
LMS, Posted: 09.14.11

At times one might see the Panthers and
Longhorns run similar plays.  Why?  Because
both now head football coaches Jose Briones, for
the Panthers, and David Sanchez led the
Longhorns to championship and post season
playoff games in the past.  Coach Briones at that
time was Coach Daivd Sanchez's offensive
coordinator.  Plus, Coach Ramirez, now
defensive coordinator for the Panthers, also
coached the Longhorn defense at those period
of times along with Coach Briones while at
United H.S.

Week 3 - Friday Game
Laredo Martin Tigers
Laredo Cigarroa Toros
LMS, Posted: 09.14.11

This week, Friday, Sept 16, at Keruger Field.
The Toros and Tigers will meet to get that first
win in district. Both teams are currently at (0-1).
In my opinion (yea who cares) the Tigers have
to win at least 3 district games for Coach David
Charles to have a successful season.  And, this
is a must win for them at this early stage of the
season.  I feel this game will set the tone for
the rest of the season for the Tigers.

Turnovers will play a big role in this game.
The defenses for both teams should already be
in sync.  The Toros are still not that

Week 3 - Friday Game
Laredo LBJ Wolves
Del Rio Rams
LMS, Posted: 09.14.11

These two teams are in many ways similar in
thought and mind.  They both love to run the
ball.  The Wolves will be traveling to Del Rio
with a district record of (0-1).  The Rams with a
record of (1-0).  They will meet on Sept 16.

The Wolves is a team that everyone has great
expectation coming early into 2011 season.
The Wolves, led by HFC Oscar Villasenor, will
have a hand full against Coach Stephen
Hoffman, of the Rams. Rams are also slated as
one of the top district game contenders.  And,
at this time I will stop here.

The CC Winn Mavericks
came into this game with
an uncertainty. They were
facing one of the 2011
upcoming power teams, the
Laredo Mustangs. The
Mavs were the underdogs.
But Mavericks power
runners like #28 and QB
#10 made it all happen
along with their defense.

The ESPN radio announcers (Bryan Benway and Ruben)
disrespect the courtesy of standing to recognize the U.S. Flag
ceremony, on Friday, 09.16.11, five days after the Memorial of
9 - 11, as shown by their actions and comments.
 This is a
continuing action at a local stadium. We have exclusive video.
However, we have sent a copy of the video to ESPN New York
office.  We will wait for their response.  The video should be
posted Tuesday or Wednesday.

The press box at a local football stadium is seen by kids, students,
members of organizations of different school groups, football
players, and fans looking from the east to the west where these two
individuals are seated.

Two ESPN from 1490 am Laredo local radio station ignore to
stand during presentation of the colors by young well discipline
ROTC cadets from a local school.

There is always a moral right - a tradition that we honor our flag as
American citizens.  We are currently at war.  We presently have
armed forces soldiers in harms way at the time these two ESPN
persons are seating on their behinds while everyone in the
stadium are standing for our flag.  While this is happening the
armed forces are fighting for our country. These soldiers, marines,
sailors, and airmen are dying while we join to see a favor past
time sport.  What is the problem?  Do you think I am the only one
upset over your behavior.  There have been various complains to
me about these actions.  Why me, because I am involved with
various organizations such as the American Legion Post #59,
Veterans of Foreign War, Catholic War Veterans, and LULAC 777,
(whom I am an original founder and organizer of that council).
That is why some people have mentioned their concerns about
disrespectful public displays towards our Flag at football games.

This is not an issue of rights, freedom of speech or expressions. If
you hate the flag for what it represents then do it somewhere else
but not on tax payers school grounds.  What are you trying to
prove to the people in a football stadium by not standing up.  A
high school environment is not an area to display negative
feelings towards the flag.  Are the ESPN people saying "look at us
we can do whatever we can".

Schools are not places of demonstration to relay your adult
thoughts, ideas or demonstrations around school kids.  If you do
not respect the flag then step out of the press box where you are
not seen by the public.  Give those parents and kids that have
armed forces men and women serving respect by respecting the
flag.

By the way, we do have Laredo armed forces men and women
that do look at our web site from overseas.  We receive e-mails
from them.  I am sure they will be displeased of your actions.

Radio Stations that come to ask for services from school grounds
should be informed that tradition is respected. No display of
demonstrations.  Out curiosity, how does ESPN in Laredo
contributes back to the community.  Second you only have a less
than thousand listening to the broadcast of the games (it is public
marketing information obtain from the web) during the game. And
the immaturity of the comment by Bryan (radio announcer from
ESPN) said in front of many people that Laredo Media Sports is
not seen by anyone (how childish).  So to ESPN, Bryan Benway
and Ruben, respect the Flag and don't demonstrate you ideas on
school grounds where they don't belong.  This is not old Laredo
business as usual.  We have very smart people in Laredo and very
patriotic citizens.

Video will be posted Tuesday or Wednesday.
