Offensive Explosions Highlight Week 2 - District
Game 1   (in Laredo, TX)
LMS, 09.10.11

Week 2 came by, with an offensive explosion by
three teams:  Laredo's Alexander, United, and
Nixon football teams.  And, a surprising lose from
Laredo LBJ which was a per-season favorite.

Week 2 of district games began on Thursday, with
the Eagles Pass Eagles played at SAC against
Laredo LBJ Wolves.  The Eagles won 28 - 14.
The Eagles replacement of 2010 Tommy Galvan,
QB, for 2011 went to QB Jose Rodriguez, a senior.
And, Eagle Daniel Felix, RB, show  the right stuff
the Eagles are made off.  The defense lead by
Filemon Perez,DB, managed to stop the LBJ
offense.  However, credit is also given to the
whole Eagle Team.  Every year the Eagles
manage to produce quality teams.

On Friday, under the Friday Night Lights of SAC,
in Laredo, the Laredo Alexander Bulldogs shined
brighter with the major stars of Bryan Swain, QB,
and Xavier Skaggs, RB. The Bulldogs showed that
their bite was mightier than the claws of the
Laredo United South Panthers.  Oh! By the way
the Bulldogs defense showed that they are one of
the best or the best in District 5A-29.  During the
first quarter, the lead could have gone either way.
Both teams step on the field as a dominance
force.  However, after making some quick
adjustments the Bulldogs prevailed winning their
first district game 42 - 5.  Somehow, someway the
Panthers will have to remove that dark cloud
hovering above them.  They are a good
competitive team, but it is that dark cloud.

Also, on Friday, the Laredo's Nixon Mustangs and
Cigarroa Toros met at Krueger Field.  Nixon
Mustangs left no stone unturned.  From the first
few minutes of the game the Mustangs showed
their dominance to win the game 40 - 8.  The
Nixon Mustangs are bringing the pride of their
glory years to the present.  Under the leader ship
of HFC Tommy Ramirez and company the team
has been revised.  Their pre-season and first
district game win have proven to be continuing
success.  And, the pride and respect that Coach
Ramirez has for his Mustangs can be seen on the
Laredo Media Sports interviews.  Laredo Media
Sports see them as the strongest team in L.I.S.D.
And, as a strong opponent against Del Rio, Eagle
Pass, and U.I.S.D. Teams.

Saturday night lights, were not shining bright for
Laredo Martin Tigers, at SAC.  But it was shinning
for Laredo United Longhorns with a win of 62 - 14.
The teams combined to total 76 points.  The
Longhorn defense and offense were dominant - no
ifs or buts.  At times, the Tigers showed sparks of
life but not enough.   However, this game for the
Tigers accomplished major objectives, as I saw
them play.  Just to mention a couple, here I go.
First it gave an  opportunity to Tiger QB Albert
Estrada, sophomore, more experience of the
game against teams like the Longhorns.  Second I
believe RB Rudy Castillo emerged as their
leading rusher for future games in this district.
AND, that is the way it is !!!
