Sport Issues that get beaten to the Ground.
by Andy, Contributor, 08.25.11

Three topics Laredo citizens are "fed up with" and so am I.

One is about reading of the border situation and sports. A local
sports writer of a newspaper wrote about the undue bad publicity
that Laredo receives because of the current border situation. Both
athletic directors, were interviewed, and agreed. One director
stated that it is hard to rent SAC for football playoffs games due to
the negative publicity that Laredo has inherited unjustly. However,
I have a solution. And that solution is for the local paper to stop
publicizing the negative situations in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico. The
paper is one of the guilty parties of promoting these issues
with their editorials which are pick up through their associated
media throughout the world. I ask, "Is it more important to line
your pockets with money in aiding to give a black eye to Laredo,
Texas. Remember the local paper opened the can of worms with
their article.

Second the stories of a running back of a local football team. His
name has been in and out of the local paper, more than it needs
to be.  And, most of all putting it in the front page.
Why must the paper continue and will continue (in the future I
know) to mention his name and charges. He is a seventeen year
young man that made a mistake for whatever reasons. Leave him
alone, what has the local paper gained by that. You have added
to his punishment enough by making Laredo be aware of his
situation. I look at it as "Local paper continues to bash a
seventeen year old". However, amazing enough when it comes to
that the story it is passed on to another reporter out of the sports
beat. This way the main sports reporter is made to be in the clear
of the story.  And someone else get the blame for the story.

Shirley Field! What can I say. The local paper has dragged it to
the ground. I know the fans and the Martin Tigers have accepted
the situation. But the issue continues. The LISD administration is
intelligent enough to handle it.  But the local paper continues to
drag the issue. Hey, local reporter, we know the issues. We as
Laredo citizens have faced many tribulations and we have
overcome them. Therefore, I say to the local paper, quit beating
the Shirley Field situation to the ground.

Oh and by the way. You stated in so many words the Laredo
Cigarroa and SA Memorial Minuteman was going to be a snooze
game for the Toros. How intelligent reporting. Do you know
according to you during that "snooze" many players are putting
their health in harms way.

I am sure this is not the end of it !!!!

refuse to honor our U.S.Flag,
by not standing in accordance
to Flag Protocol.
It is a disgrace to all who
are in "harms way" in the
Middle East. And to those
who have died fighting to
preserve our freedom !!!!!!
See sideshow below.  If
others can do it -- why can't
they.

enjoyment of seeing the Bulldogs in
